Our Mission

Aerospace

  • UTAT and its four divisions (Rocktery, UAS, Space Systems, Aerospace Policy) are each looking to make a positive mark in the aerospace field. Rocketry, which builds solid, hybrid, and liquid rockets, sets records at launch competitions. UAS, which works on drones and fixed-wing planes, has made a name for itself in its competitions, building for challenges based on environmental and transport problems facing the real world. Space Systems, which builds satellites, became recognized internationally with the launch of the student-built HERON Mk. II into space with Space X. Aerospace Policy, which conducts research and attends international conferences to present their ideas, advocates for the creation of equitable and well-defined policies for the continuing progress of aerospace. Each division makes it a core value to progress the aerospace field with cutting-edge technology, while fostering its leaders and innovators of tomorrow.

University of Toronto

  • With 200 active members and growing every year, UTAT brings in undergraduate and graduate members across all disciplines and backgrounds, uniting the campus by its love of aerospace. It provides a way for undergraduate students outside of the aerospace major to get practical, hands-on knowledge of the technical field they love so much. The design team provides a fun, challenging environment where students are given the opportunity to bring their collaborative, technical, and communication skills to the test, growing with their prototypes into well-rounded individuals that can represent the University of Toronto name with pride. Members who join UTAT leave with newfound experience, connections, and confidence that translate well into higher learning and industry.

Community

  • UTAT’s outreach team consistently seeks opportunities to engage the community, sharing its love of aerospace and all its facets with members from all walks of life. Outreach events UTAT has attended in the past include the Science Rendezvous where team members shot bottle rockets with young and old Torontonians. High-school programs are also another way for UTAT to connect with the community, this gives us the opportunity to engage with high schoolers to get them excited for university life. Elementary programs are also another opportunity for us to introduce the wonderful world of aerospace to elementary students. UTAT believes aerospace should be accessible to everybody, regardless of age or experience, and that there is no better way to encourage Canadians then by going out and meeting them!
